Maryse Vermette
Éco Entreprises Québec
With over twenty-five years of leadership experience in both public and private organizations in Quebec related to the selective collection of recyclable materials, Maryse Vermette is one of the pioneers in this key sector of the circular economy. Holding a bachelor’s degree in urban planning from the Université de Montréal and an MBA, Ms. Vermette has been the President and CEO of Éco Entreprises Québec (ÉEQ) since 2008, a private non-profit organization representing over 3,400 companies responsible for financing municipal selective collection costs. She has served on several boards of socio-economic organizations and was appointed in 2014 as co-chair of the Advisory Committee on Residual Materials, and later was appointed to the Committee on the Modernization of the Recovery and Recycling Industry, both established by the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Environment, and the Fight Against Climate Change.
A sought-after speaker both domestically and internationally, she contributes to the promotion of Quebec’s expertise in the fields of eco-design of packaging, recycling of secondary materials, and the optimization of the selective collection value chain. Drawing on her experience as General Director of an RCM in the Greater Montreal area from 1988 to 2003 and as Director of Municipal Relations at Collecte sélective Québec from 2003 to 2005, her deep understanding of the issues related to selective collection allows her to bring stakeholders together around impactful consensus.
