Working for the economic development of East Montreal since 2011, Melissa Stoia has recognized expertise in setting up structuring projects and supporting companies in the circular economy.
She designed and set up Synergie Montreal, the first industrial symbiosis in Greater Montreal. This initiative was first deployed on a pilot scale in the East of Montreal in 2016, then extended its radius of action to the entire Montreal agglomeration in 2019 thanks to the support of the City of Montreal.
Today occupying the dual role of Director of sustainable development and circular economy within the PME MTL network and coordinator of Synergie Montréal, Ms. Stoia sees the circular economy as an entrepreneurial school for both start-ups and entrepreneurs, seasoned people who want to change the way they do business. A graduate in geography – spatial and territorial analysis from the universities of Paris-I-Sorbonne and La Réunion, Ms. Stoia brings her geographer’s perspective to the development of projects aimed at developing a more resource-efficient and more resilient economy on a daily basis.
