Occupational Health and Safety

In Quebec, occupational health and safety is the responsibility of the Commission de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CSST). This organization's mission is to administer Quebec's occupational health and safety plan in compliance with two laws: An Act respecting occupational health and safety and An Act respecting industrial accidents and occupational diseases.

The CQCD is very active in various aspects of occupational health and safety, in particular

  • legislation;
  • prevention;
  • funding;
  • research;
  • management of business files.

In a more concrete manner, its involvement spans a wide range of issues, such as:

  • employers' contributions;
  • the allocation of costs not charged to employers' files;
  • the eligibility of claims following an industrial accident;
  • the management of accident files;
  • pandemic response;
  • occupational health and safety for young workers.

The CQCD also works in collaboration with the Conseil du Patronat en santé et sécurité du travail, which offers its members a variety of training activities related to occupational health and safety.
